BURLINGTON, ON – A 26-year-old man died early Monday following a collision on Queen Elizabeth Way near Burlington that injured at least two others, according to Global News.
The events unfolded on the westbound lanes of QEW at Guelph Line, shortly after two Halton Regional Police officers attempted a traffic stop on a pickup truck for speeding.
An early investigation indicates the driver of the pickup, which was carrying three passengers, fled from the officers but ultimately crashed near Brant Street (Exit 101) and overturned.
Special Investigations Unit officials indicated that multiple patients were rushed to a nearby hospital for a range of injuries. One victim was later pronounced deceased.
The accident had the exit ramp shut down throughout the morning. Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said no clearance time was immediately provided.
