TORONTO, ON - An 11-year-old boy suffered critical injuries Friday morning after a pedestrian crash involving a transport truck in Toronto’s Etobicoke district, according to Global News.
Toronto Police said the incident took place at about 9:00 a.m., in the area of Albion Road and Beattie Avenue, near Elmhurst Drive.
Surveillance footage recovered from the scene indicates the boy was either inside or near a crosswalk as he travelled across the roadway on foot when he made contact with the truck. Preliminary details indicate he was hit by the space between the cab and the trailer of the vehicle.
Paramedics confirmed that a paediatric patient was rushed to a local trauma centre in critical condition. Officials said life-saving measures were administered.
The driver, who remained at the scene, cooperated with an investigation, which remains underway. No charges have been reported at this time.
Motorists were asked to find alternate routes to avoid the scene.
