BRAMPTON, ON – A Peel Regional Police officer was rushed to a trauma centre Tuesday evening after being struck by a vehicle on Chinguacousy Road in Brampton, according to
Global News.
The incident took place at about 8:15 p.m. between Bovaird Drive and Williams Parkway, where the officer was investigating a different collision.
Preliminary details indicate that the officer had been on the scene for at least two hours when they were hit by a passing driver, who initially left the scene but returned moments later.
The officer, who suffered critical injuries believed to be non-life-threatening, was last listed in stable condition, according to an update by Acting Inspector Brad Stafford.
No injuries to the driver or anyone else have been reported.
The area was shut down as officers conducted an investigation. Motorists were asked to find alternate routes.
