VAUGHN, ON – A 15-year-old boy has died following a pedestrian crash involving at least two drivers Thursday morning in Vaughan, reports CBC.ca.
York Regional Police said the fatal incident unfolded near Weston Road and Villa Royale Avenue, in the Woodbridge area, at about 7:24 a.m.
A news release indicates the teen may have been walking to school when he was hit by one vehicle that caused him to be thrown a short distance. He appeared to have been struck by another vehicle moments later.
First responders arrived on the scene to find the victim lying in the roadway with severe, life-threatening injuries. He was rushed to an area trauma hospital where he later pronounced deceased, confirmed officials.
Both of the involved drivers stayed at the scene after the crash.
A stretch of Weston Road from Maria Antonia Road to Davos Road and Ashberry Boulevard was closed during the response. Motorists were warned of intermittent closures throughout the day and early evening.
