
UXBRIDGE, ON – A collision Monday morning on Sandford Road near Uxbridge claimed one life and hospitalized five other people, including a child who was critically injured, reports
CBC.
Durham Regional Police said the accident happened near the intersection with Regional Road 1, prompting a response from officers at around 2:15 p.m.
The events leading up to the two-vehicle wreck have not been disclosed, but one person was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Five other people were rushed to hospitals within the area and in Toronto. Officials said the patients' injuries fall in a range from non-life-threatening to life-threatening.
Roadways in the area remained closed during the emergency response and investigation.
