MARKHAM, ON – An elderly woman suffered serious injuries Monday morning in Markham when she was struck by a vehicle while walking her dog, according to Global News.
York Regional Police said the pedestrian collision occurred on Fincham Avenue, between Nine Line and 16th Avenue, at about 8:30 a.m.
The circumstances of the event were not immediately clear, but authorities said the woman was rushed to an area hospital where she was listed in serious condition.
It was unclear whether the victim's dog was injured. Authorities also did not indicate whether the driver stayed at the scene after the incident.
The public was asked to avoid the area as crews responded to the scene.
