WHITBY, ON – A multi-vehicle accident early Saturday, February 3, near Whitby claimed a driver's life and left another injured, according to OPP Highway Safety Division.
The fatal wreck unfolded on the westbound lanes of Highway 401 at Thickson Road and was first reported at 12:30 a.m.
Toronto Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) did not immediately say what may have caused the three-vehicle crash, but one driver was pronounced deceased as a result. One other driver was transported to a local hospital for injuries considered minor.
No further details have been released, but an investigation by Toronto OPP was underway. Anyone who may have witnessed the event is encouraged to call investigators at 905-668-3388. Motorists were warned that westbound Highway 401 was expected to remain blocked until at least 7:00 a.m on Saturday morning.
