TORONTO, ON – A 59-year-old man has died after being hit by a vehicle while riding a bicycle Monday morning in Toronto's East York district, according to
Global News.
The collision took place on Bayview Avenue, at the offramp from Don Valley Parkway, near Evergreen Brick Works. It was first reported at about 9:25 a.m.
A preliminary investigation found that a 38-year-old man was behind the wheel of a 2023 Ford Bronco Sport heading northbound on Bayview Avenue from the parkway. At one point, the Ford Bronco collided with the cyclist, who was already travelling northbound on the road.
As a result of the contact, the cyclist fell from his bike and sustained major injuries. First responders later pronounced him deceased at the hospital.
Authorities continue to investigate.
