CLARINGTON, ON - Two people were killed and two more were injured Sunday when a suspected drunk driver plowed into an oncoming vehicle on Highway 419. According to CBC, the accident happened just after 7 p.m., when a southbound vehicle entered the northbound lanes of the highway from Taunton Road. The wrong-way vehicle then slammed head-on into a northbound vehicle near Nash Road. The 41-year-old woman driving the wrong-way vehicle and a 36-year-old woman in the second vehicle died at the scene. Sources say a third vehicle subsequently collided with the wreckage. Two occupants of that vehicle were hospitalized. Investigators believe that the driver of the wrong-way vehicle was impaired at the time of the crash, though the investigation remains underway.
