Andrew Mercer leads the property damage practice area at Preszler Injury Lawyers, where his work is dedicated exclusively to assisting individuals and businesses in complex insurance coverage disputes. He focuses on helping policyholders navigate denied or underpaid property insurance claims resulting from fires, floods, severe weather events, and a wide range of other property losses. In addition to his property loss work, Andrew also has experience with virtually every major category of insurance policy, including automobile, commercial general liability, errors & omissions, directors & officers, crime and dishonesty, title insurance, and a wide range of commercial coverages.

Andrew’s career includes experience representing insurers, which has provided him with valuable insight into how insurance companies assess and defend claims. Today, his practice is strictly devoted to representing policyholders. He is passionate about helping individuals, families, and businesses rebuild after catastrophic losses and ensuring that insurers meet their contractual obligations.

Andrew has represented clients at all levels of court in Ontario as well as in commercial arbitrations. He is also experienced in the insurance appraisal process, having acted as an appraiser, an umpire, and counsel on judicial reviews of appraisal awards. His ability to distill complex insurance issues into clear, actionable guidance allows his clients to make informed decisions at every stage of their claim.

Alongside his litigation practice, Andrew maintains a strong academic interest in insurance law. He is the co-author of Introduction to Canadian Insurance Law, Auto Insurance Coverage Law in Ontario, and the “Security for Costs” chapter in Civil Practice and Procedure in Ontario. He has also published numerous academic articles and taught the Civil Procedure course as an adjunct professor at Western University.

Outside the office, Andrew enjoys spending time with his two young children and plays the guitar whenever time allows.
