Mark Virgin possesses a wealth of experience and a stellar reputation, notably having been distinguished by his peers in Best Lawyers in Canada for his expertise in insurance. He has extensive courtroom experience, having conducted numerous trials before judge alone and before judge and jury, as well as appearances at the appellate level. He has successfully represented clients in a wide range of complex claims, including serious personal injuries such as fatalities, brain injuries, complicated psychiatric disorders, catastrophic orthopedic injuries and fatalities. He has also fought contentious liability disputes. Mark has been counsel for individuals injured in slip and fall incidents, motor vehicle accidents, sexual assault and medical malpractice claims as well as disability claims.
He is respected for his tenacity in prosecuting claims on behalf of clients and when trial has been necessary he has secured significant awards from the court, whether judge or jury. He has published papers and presented across Canada and in the U.K. on a wide variety of topics to industry professionals and to select segments of the Bar and he has a particular interest in demystifying expert evidence. Beyond litigation, Mark is highly regarded in his role as a mediator and arbitrator, resolving civil disputes in a variety of areas involving injuries and beyond. He has expended countless hours doing charitable works within the profession and in the community at large and which has been recognized by the Canadian Bar Association with the Community Service Award.
Outside of work, Mark has a passion for hiking, skiing, swimming and loves frequent travel having visited all seven continents.
