Donald C. McKay is a respected senior litigation lawyer with over 35 years of experience conducting criminal and civil trials before judges and juries. Over the years, he has narrowed his practice to personal injury law involving seriously injured plaintiffs suffering from brain injuries, psychological injuries, devastating orthopedic injuries and chronic pain. While Donald has extensive experience representing both injured plaintiffs and defendant insurance corporations, since joining Preszler Law, he has happily restricted his practice to representing only injured plaintiffs.

Although Donald enjoys conducting trials and has represented parties before the British Columbia Supreme Court, the British Columbia Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court of Canada, he strives to resolve claims on behalf of his clients through negotiated settlements or mediations. Donald’s experience representing both injured plaintiffs and defendant insurance corporations provides him with invaluable insights and strategies that allow him to maximize compensation on behalf of his clients.

Donald’s criminal and civil trial experience and his cross-examination skills make him a fierce advocate on behalf of victims of sexual assault and institutional abuse, an area of law that he is particularly passionate about. Donald appreciates that the litigation process can be intimidating and stressful for his clients. Donald was born in the British Columbia East Kootenays and raised on Vancouver Island. He is the proud father of four daughters and two grandchildren. For recreation, while his hockey-playing and coaching days are over, he continues to be an avid hockey fan and enjoys fishing and boating with his family.
