Matthew Cleary
Personal Injury Lawyer
Matthew Cleary was born and raised in Victoria, BC, and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Victoria. His academic background was intentionally broad, spanning the sciences, humanities, social sciences, and languages before he chose to specialize in anthropology, focusing on cultural studies and ethnography.
While attending law school, Matthew discovered a particular interest in tort law, an area that would go on to define his legal practice. Since his call to the BC Bar in 2009, he has dedicated his career to representing plaintiffs in personal injury matters and helping clients seek justice after serious injuries.
Matthew values the opportunity to advocate for people during some of the most challenging times in their lives. He is known for his compassionate and client-focused approach, as well as his commitment to fighting for those who need a strong voice on their side.
Prior to practicing law, Matthew spent significant time travelling throughout Central and South America as well as Southeast Asia. His experiences abroad, combined with his background in anthropology, gave him a greater appreciation for diverse cultures and perspectives. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, gardening, reading mystery novels, fishing, and spending time outdoors with his family and dog.
