Sherman Hood

Personal Injury Lawyer

Assistant:

Rumour Baldock

Sherman Willet Hood is a Vancouver-born lawyer with extensive experience handling serious bodily injury claims. Since being called to the British Columbia Bar in 2002, Sherman has built a litigation practice focused on complex personal injury matters, including motor vehicle accidents, slip and falls, and sexual assault claims.

Sherman earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Simon Fraser University in 1995 before completing his law degree at the University of Nottingham in England in 2000. His education and professional experience have shaped a client-focused approach grounded in preparation, strategy, and a clear understanding of how injuries can affect every part of a person’s life.

In the early stages of his legal career, Sherman worked as in-house counsel at the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia. He later practised with two prominent insurance defence firms in Vancouver, where he handled more complex personal injury matters on behalf of the defence. These experiences gave him valuable insight into how insurance companies assess, defend, and resolve injury claims.

Since 2015, Sherman has focused exclusively on representing plaintiffs. He uses his defence background to anticipate the strategies insurers may rely on and to advocate strongly for injured clients seeking fair compensation. When a claim cannot be resolved fairly, Sherman is prepared to advance the matter to trial and present the case before a judge or jury.

Sherman has acted as lead counsel in several complex personal injury trials before the British Columbia Supreme Court and has obtained favourable results for his clients. His notable decisions include Hanger v. Shin, 2019 BCSC 99, Konnert v. Buonassisi, 2019 BCSC 1648, and Knight v. Zenone, 2022 BCSC 99.

Since Sherman has joined Preszler Injury Lawyers, he continues to represent injured clients with determination, professionalism, and a strong commitment to their best interests.

Outside of his legal practice, Sherman is an avid fan of the New York Mets, San Francisco 49ers, and Philadelphia Flyers. He also enjoys spending time with his wife and family, as well as relaxing at his remote property in Northern Ontario.
